We sat down with Lynann Escatel to get the low down on how she found herself teaching at Pilates on 66 and how she manages to stay in such great shape.
Who are you & what is your position at Pilates on 66:
Lynann: My name is Lynann, I am from Arizona and moved to NYC to persue a career in dance. Now I am a Professional Pilates instructor at Pilates on 66.
What brought you to Pilates?
Lynann: I was looking for something to keep me in shape for my dancing career. As a dancer, I have always loved to challenge my body through movement and Pilates does just that. I also love the way that Pilate helps motivate people to move.
"Helping my clients is my goal as a teacher."
What motivates you when you teach Pilates?
Lynann: Watching my clients come back weekly and having discovered something new in their practice or finding ease in their daily activities motivates me to keep teaching and learning.
what do you focus on most with your clients?
Lynann: In general, I like to find out why my client is doing Pilates and what do they like to do outside of the studio. This way as we build their practice they understand how it helps them in their everyday activities. For me, it's about more than just abs.
What are your current goals in your own Pilates practice?
Lynann: Time management is my biggest challenge when it comes to my own practice. Sometimes the work day gets so long and suddenly three days have gone by and I haven’t taken anytime for myself or my own workout.

Lynann: I have two major benefits. I was a smoker when I started Pilates and it has been over 4 years that I am smoke free! The second benefit is understanding how much food affects my body. I hated cooking and now I love it. Spending a Sunday afternoon meal planning is a perfect Sunday.
What is your favorite workout to do outside of Pilates?
Lynann: I love to swim! I grew up in Arizona with pool in my backyard. Also, Katie Leigh introduced TRX to me last year and that is a new favorite.
How long have you been teaching Pilates?
Lynann: I am now into my 9th year.
What do you love most about it?
Lynann: It's beyond rewarding to know I am helping to improve someone's quality of life. When my client is happy and successful then I am happy and successful.
What do you do outside of Pilates to keep your mind sharp?
Lynann: I read a lot and all different things. I have recently been trying to sit and read the Sunday paper. Lately, I have been considering going back to school.
What is your favorite meal or snack to recover from a challenging workout?
Lynann: A smoothie than is my favorite snack after a workout and mid day. I have a sweet tooth so the fruit helps me keep it in check.
